I wanted to know what is the best vegan burger so I decided to make this easy-to-read guide.
In recent years, the demand for plant-based alternatives to traditional meat products has surged, leading to the rise of innovative vegan burger brands vying for a prime spot in our plates and palates.
Among them, Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods, Gardein, NotCo., and Lightlife have emerged as front-runners, each boasting a unique blend of ingredients, technology, and culinary wizardry.
I went vegan back before there was a revollution in the vegan burger world. I’m talking of course about the release of Beyond Meat and the Impossible Burger. Before these were released there were some great vegan burgers, don’t get me wrong, but they just weren’t like these titans. This new class of vegan burgers are titans and have changed things immensely for both vegans and the animals used for food.
For the guide below, its pretty straight forward. I used the info listed on each brand’s website. All of the patties are the same size except for Impossible which throughs off the nutritional facts slightly.
Cost can vary depending on the grocer but I used PlantX for the prices below.
Calories | Protein | Fat (Saturated) | Salt | Cost/Patty | Fiber | Patty | Rating
230 | 20g | 14g (5g) | 390mg | $4.60 | 2g | 113g
380 | 22g | 27g (17g) | 420mg | $5.15 | 7 | 151g
210 | 20g | 11g (9g) | 450mg | $4.65 | 1g | 113g
270 | 16g | 21g (13g) | 470mg | $3.90 | 6g | 113g
250 | 20g | 17g (5g) | 390mg | $5.25 | 1g | 113g |
It is clear from the burger comparison that the Beyond Meat Burger is the winner. It has the second lowest amount of calories price, and fat, lowest sodium, and tastes the best, in my opinion.
Gardein’s burger is a close second but I just don’t like the taste that much and it has the second highest amount of sodium, which is something I’m really trying to watch these days.
Did I miss a burger you think deserves to be added to the list? Leave me a comment below and I’ll add it.
And also for those who are interested I have also linked to the ingredients of each burger:
